No-exam life insurance

Learn who skips the exam, what the fast process involves, and what happens if you don't.

Many insurers now have accelerated underwriting: inside age and coverage limits, they underwrite from your application, Rx history, driving record and other sources without an exam. Approvals can arrive the same day. Each quote tells you the exam status: required, conditional, or waived.

What it changes

No exam doesn't mean no investigation. The carrier verifies your responses, and a policy issued based on false information can be voided within the first two years. If their research uncovers concerns, they may still order an exam; you can choose whether to go ahead.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, people under about 60, requesting amounts within the carrier's fast-track cap, with clean health backgrounds and no recent tobacco use qualify. Some carriers will substitute current lab work from your doctor's visit for their exam.

An exam, if required, is typically a quick twenty- to thirty-minute session by a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Carlsbad region, paid by the carrier. Healthy people often see their rate tier improve, making the exam a plus.
